Motivational Monday-Enjoy Life!

A good friend sent this in a email I hope it makes your day!
There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey not a destination, so work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like no one's watching.
Food for Thought: What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

Healthy Friday-"Take The Test"

June 27 Is National HIV testing Day

Because anyone can get HIV, CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 be tested as a routine part of their medical care. CDC also recommends that pregnant women be tested early during each pregnancy. This will help eliminate the spread of HIV to infants.
Early HIV diagnosis is critical, so people who are infected can fully benefit from available live-saving treatments. Currently, almost 40 percent of people with HIV are not diagnosed until they have already developed AIDS that can be up to 10 years after they first became infected with HIV.
Finding out whether you are infected with HIV is the first step to improving your health and the health of your partners and your family. The week of June 27 there will be thousands of organizations offering HIV testing and hosting special NHTD events. Know your Status, go to
http://www.hivtest.org/ to find a local testing site near you.

Wednesday-Successful Families

"No society can survive the breakdown of the family"-Dr. Stephen Covey
As a single parent of a demanding 15 year old (i think my sweet innocent baby was abducted by aliens and they returned this thing called a teenager), I'm constantly looking for ways to be a better parent. What Ive learned and find comfort in knowing is that, the challenges i face are not just unique to me. There are other parents who may struggle with the same issues I face such as discipline, peer pressure, academics, sex, effective communication, etc. I don't have to reinvent the wheel there are a plethora of information available and peopleyou can turn to like family, friends and counselors. Success defined is the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors. If we make an attempt to set family goals which entail our expectation of success in our family and a plan of action of how to carry it out, you have no other choice but to be successful. My plan for a successful family is to Keep an open line of communication with my daughter, Spend Quality Time, Instilling Morals & Values, Make sure she has access to a good education, Be a positive role model an example she can emulate. As parents we tend to hold our children to a standard that we don't even live up to. My challenge is to not only teach but to demonstrate how to be a better, productive, person. Our children are our legacy, what will you live behind. Dr. Stephen Covey give 4 action tips for highly Effective family in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families.
Develop a Family Mission
Plan Regular Family times
Schedule one-on-one bonding with each family member
Build Family Traditions
Families play an important role in the emotional, physical, and social development of individual family members. Successful families are prepared to cope and adapt to life events, crisis, and transitions.

Talk Money Tuesday-"Your Starting Point"

In order to be successful, you must have resources. To buy that dream home, purchase that new car, save for retirement, start a new business, college fund, requires money. Before I start talking about, 401K, mortgage loans, IRA, Stocks and Bonds, 529 college plans, lets first deal with the basis of financial freedom-saving! Here's 4 tips for your journey toward Financial Freedom:

1.Be honest! "A Journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, but you must know what direction your going in." You may not want to think about the money you've spent and the money you did not save, but acknowledging where you are can help in making wise decision in the future. Know the facts about your credit, spending habits, & debt. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com to get your free credit report. Take inventory of your assets and liability. You can print a downloadable personal financial statement to help inventory your finances at http://www.finance.cch.com/tools/downloads/perfinanstatement.rtf

2. Commit to saving! I live by the 80/10/10 rule; 80% income goes to basic living expenses, 10%tithe, 10% saving. I have money automatically withdrawn from my bank account so I don't even miss it. Online banks like, ING offers free savings account with no fees, no minimum balance, 4% return-www.ingdirect.com. You may not be able to save 10%, but commit today to save at least $30.00 month, $1.00 a day and then gradually increase as you see fit.

3.Build a budget. Sit down and record your income and expenses and manage money accordingly. I recommend www.mint.com which offers a free money management tools to build budget.

4. Cut Frivolous Spending. Make a list of needs vs. wants. Cut back on entertainment, eating out and other extras. Give yourself a weekly allowance.

FaithFul Sunday-"Rebuilding after Destruction"

Circumstances occur that may destroy our faith, self-esteem, confidence, ability to progress. Divorce, Loss of Loved one, job loss, etc. What took years to build may be snatch or destroyed over night without warning. What do you do? What does it take?In the book of Ezra we are given an illustration of what it took for the children of Israel to rebuild the Temple of God. We can model this illustration and make it applicable to our lives.

We must 1st face the pain of our past. (Ezra 2)-Exiles Returned Back to Jerusalem
We must have resources (Ezra 3)- they gave money for supplies, as authorized by King Cyrus
Be committed (Ezra 4:4)-Despite opposition they continued to build, "they hired counselors to work against them and frustrate their plans"
Be diligent (Ezra 5)
Authority(Ezra 5:9)-when asked, "who authorized you to rebuild", they responded, We are the children of God and we are rebuilding the temple" Know your purpose, Write the vision!
Be Patient (Ezra 6:13)-The Temple was rebuild in 31 years.

Begin Today to rebuild your life using the stumbling blocks as a foundation to build again. In difficulty lies opportunity, not forgetting our loss instead learning from life trials and move forward. For every vision, God will provide provision! Trust in God and He will give you peace! The lost of a loved one is never easy and you should never feel you have to forget. Instead Live to carry their legacy to the next generation.

Peace of Mind

In order to find peace in our lives, we must find peace within ourselves. Inner peace comes with spending quiet time with ourselves; no tv, no phone, and yes no internet. We can then meditate on things that are good and pure and be able to think clearly. You would be amazed what you can hear in your quiet time. No matter how kaotic your situation, when there is peace from within we can then exude that peace outward. In our busy day to day life that is easier said than done, but dedicate time for yourself. So read a good book, hide in the bathroom, take a walk, light an aromatherapy candle, shut the bedroom door, wherever your find refuge, find peace. We are guaranteed to be better wives, mothers, co-workers, and friends.
